vulnerability

Introduction:

Last night, I had the privilege of hosting an event called Turn ON alongside two incredible women. This event serves as an introduction to OM (Orgasmic Meditation). It consists of engaging and fun adult communication games designed to raise consciousness in your life, inspire self-discovery and vulnerability, and awaken your desire. As a result, you feel more connected to yourself and others.

Through games like Inside-Out, Hot Seats, and Intimacies, participants get real, real quick. These games foster an environment where honesty and vulnerability lead to profound self-revelation. Participants are often amazed at what they learn about themselves simply by speaking their truth.

One significant aspect is the uncomfortable vulnerability the games bring (which is exactly the sweet spot we aim for!). This is the zone where growth occurs—we discover new facets of ourselves by pushing and playing with our edges.

A Personal Revelation

During the first round of Inside-Out, we were posed a deep question, to which both participants and facilitators had to respond instinctively. The key was to go with the first thought, unfiltered and truthful. First thought, Right thought.

My immediate gut instinct to this personal question hit me, giving me a clear answer. However, it felt too vulnerable, honest, and raw. Out of fear of judgment, I chose a safer, inauthentic response. As the round progressed, I felt the weight of my dishonesty.

The Power of Authenticity & Vulnerability

Unable to bear the inauthenticity, I bolted up from the couch, unable to contain true feelings, “Wait, I have to change my answer! That was such bullshit. What I wanted to say was this…”

An invisible weight came melting off. The feeling of “this just doesn’t feel right” spoke so loudly and clearly that my instinct was compelled to make it right. The relief was palpable.

Everyone in the room felt it, too! The energy shifted as everyone resonated with my honesty and vulnerability. There was this simultaneous bubbling up of voices in agreement and somewhat praise/relief in my confession.

This moment underscored the power of speaking truth from the depth of our being, a practice that feels both terrifying and liberating. What a beautiful teacher this was for me and the participants, as we were all able to feel my bullshit and then feel my truth— just as I had.

The Ripple Effect of Truth

Building Momentum Through Honesty & Vulnerability

I’ve found that consistently speaking truth in small ways builds momentum for greater expressions of authenticity from a place of truth. This practice liberates us and gives others permission to be real, vulnerable, and unapologetic. As Maya Angelou said, “There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story [truth] inside of you.”

It has been my experience that something incredible happens when truth is spoken from our depth, from that inner knowing of ourselves (some call it heart, instinct, gut, God, etc.). It’s like this turning inside-out feeling that is so scary but also incredibly liberating and empowering. The simplicity of truth!

Shared Vulnerability

After the event, one of my clients shared how vulnerable and liberating it felt to open up to a group of strangers and how, in that fear, she also felt a cracking open and release of weight.

Furthermore, she expressed gratitude for hearing me share these parts of myself that she’d never seen before and how it made her feel more connected to me. Her gratitude for my vulnerability strengthened our connection. And isn’t this the name of the game, anyway? We all want to feel seen, heard, understood, accepted, connected, loved. reinforcing that we all seek to be seen, heard, and understood.

Over the last year and a half, I have watched her blossom into full blossom, like a beautiful flower, opening, fully expressing, her light shining, and I was so deeply moved. Witnessing her transformation has been such a beautiful moment for me as her coach.

Conclusion:

Turn ON was a success. Participants left feeling more open, connected, and empowered. The event highlighted the transformative power of vulnerability and the importance of authentic self-expression.

  1. Thank you for sharing this story. I always had this belief that a lot of sickness is caused by keeping truths buried inside. Reason being the truth was such a painful or shameful memory. sharing the untold story or truth seems impossible. People find release from the pain through alcoholism, addidiction and death. I am a huge advocate for finding ways for people to be more comfortable in their own skin. Own their stories and experiences and not be afraid to share them with the world. I am still working on all of this too!

    • Becky, thank you for your reply. Couldn’t agree more. There is an inherent connection between our mind and body, and without a doubt, our emotional bodies manifest into our physical. I’m so glad to see you are working on this. Being fearless in owning our truth, our stories and committing to healing are essential to a fruitful life. Keep at it 🙂
